Welcome to www.scicook.org (the "Site"), operated by SciCook, a San Diego 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization ("SciCook," "we," "us"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
Using our Site
You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes: to learn about our work, register for programs, volunteer, and donate. Please don't misuse the Site, including by trying to disrupt it, access it without authorization, submit false information, or use it for anything unlawful.
Our content
The text, photos, logos, recipes, and other materials on the Site belong to SciCook or are used with permission. You're welcome to share our content for personal or educational, non-commercial purposes with credit to SciCook and a link to our Site. For any other use, including commercial use, please ask us first. "SciCook," "SciEats," and "SciCream" are names of SciCook and its programs and may not be used in a way that suggests our endorsement without permission.
Nutrition information is educational, not medical advice
Our recipes, classes, and nutrition content are for general education. They are not medical advice and are not a substitute for guidance from your doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified health professional. Please talk with a professional before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or take medication.
Food allergies and dietary needs
Our community meals, classes, and events take place in kitchens that handle common allergens, including nuts, dairy, wheat, soy, eggs, and others. We do our best to label ingredients and accommodate dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee that any food is free of allergens. Please tell us about allergies or dietary needs ahead of time, and use your own judgment about what is safe for you.
Classes, events, and volunteering
- Registration: Space in classes and events may be limited. Please register through the Site and let us know if you can't attend so someone else can take your spot.
- Cancellations: To cancel a class registration, including a paid class or class series, please contact us at [email protected] at least 24 hours before the first class begins.
- Kitchen safety: Cooking involves knives, heat, and other hazards. Participants and volunteers agree to follow staff instructions and kitchen safety rules. You take part at your own risk, to the extent permitted by law.
- Minors: Participants under 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian, and younger children must be supervised as described for each program.
- Volunteers may be asked to sign a separate volunteer agreement or waiver.
Donations
Donations to SciCook support our programs and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. SciCook's EIN is 99-3984746. Online donations are processed securely by Stripe. If you believe a donation was made in error, please contact us within 30 days at [email protected].
Links to other websites
The Site links to other websites, including SciEats (thescieats.com), social media, and payment providers. We're not responsible for the content or practices of those sites, and their own terms and policies apply.
Disclaimer
We work hard to keep the Site accurate and up to date, including program details, dates, and times, but information may change and the Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SciCook and its directors, staff, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site means you accept the updated Terms.
